Violet Firth (1890–1946) — Golden Dawn initiate (via the Alpha et Omega and the Stella Matutina), founder of the Society of the Inner Light, novelist, and the most readable writer this lineage produced.

The Mystical Qabalah (1935) is still, ninety years on, the book most English-speaking readers meet first — clear, psychologically minded, warm, and thoroughly Golden Dawn in its assumptions. Its influence on what the phrase "the Tree of Life" means in English is difficult to overstate.

Which is the whole point of this bench: for most readers, the first Kabbalah they encounter is a 1935 book by an English occultist working from a 1652 diagram and a 1677 Latin anthology — and it does not announce itself as such.
