Four worlds, each a coarser-grained expression of the one above; sparks ascending through mineral, vegetable, animal, speaker (the tradition's own four kingdoms); Rav Kook reading evolution as teshuvah — all being homing toward its source. Modern complexity science: emergence — new levels of order with their own laws arising from, without being reducible to, the level below. The tradition ran the stack downward (emanation); science runs it upward (emergence); the diagram is the same drawn from opposite ends.
