◐ the beinoni — the intermediate one

◐ the beinoni — the intermediate one — the Tanya's rank, drawn as the instrument the book describes. Shneur Zalman of Liadi, 1796, and the second title of its first part is ספר של בינונים, THE BOOK OF THE INTERMEDIATES. THREE GARMENTS: a soul reaches the world only by being clothed — thought in the brain, speech in the mouth, act in the other 248 parts — and both souls compete for the same three. PUSH THE PULL TO 100 AND THE BEINONI'S GARMENTS STAY CLEAN: that is the whole definition, and it is why the rank is a scale and not a score. His evil is not half-defeated; it is entirely intact and never once acts. ⚠ The tzaddik's slider is DISABLED, and that is doctrine, not a limitation of the page — "my heart is a void within me" (Ps 109:22) means there is no pull to set. The difference between the two upper ranks is not that one resists harder; it is that one has nothing to resist. ⚠ AFTER PRAYER THE PULL RETURNS BY ITSELF (ch. 12: "the evil in the left part reawakens") — the quiet won in the Shema is not kept, and the room will not let you keep it. AND THE THOUGHT THAT RISES IS NOT THE FAILURE: it rises of its own accord and cannot be prevented; the only verb is thrusting it out, "with both hands," the instant it is recognised. Entertaining it willingly is the lapse. ⚠⚠ The PULL IS A NUMBER AND THE TANYA GIVES NO NUMBER — that grading is ours and is labelled as ours in the panel, as is the order in which the wicked one's garments are taken. Nothing is scored and the page never tells you what rank you are. Reference only; nothing here is a rite.
