THE ATLAS OF THE EMPTY THRONE
Anattā · no-self
anattā
nature
There is no permanent unchanging essence that is you. Look for the self among the five aggregates and you find only the five, each changing, none the owner of the others. Not you do not exist — rather, the thing you have been defending was a process you mistook for a possession.
The teaching that made Buddhism heretical in its own homeland, and the sharpest single break with everything the Tree presupposes.
rhymes with
sephirahdaat
whyThe thread runs to Da'at, the hidden sefirah, and the choice is deliberate: the Tree's own gap. Bittul ha-yesh empties a self that is real to make room for a Presence that is real, and both survive. Anattā finds the tenant moved out before the lease began.
