THE ATLAS OF THE EMPTY THRONE
Nirvāṇa · the blowing out
nirvāṇa
nature
A fire-metaphor: extinguished, blown out — what happens to a flame when the fuel is withdrawn. Not annihilation and not a place; the burning of craving, aversion and confusion simply stops, and what remains the texts decline to describe, since every description would be another handhold.
The goal — and the least similar goal to tikkun olam anywhere on this bench.

whyThe summit thread, and the least comfortable one in the pack: the Tree's summit is a crown and a completion; this one is a fire going out. Mahāyāna complicates its own half — Nāgārjuna says saṃsāra and nirvāṇa are not different, and the bodhisattva stays.
