THE ATLAS OF THE CAVE AND THE SUN
Martin Heidegger
Heidegger
nature
German philosopher whose essay Plato's Doctrine of Truth (lectures 1931–32, published 1940) argues that something is lost in this very allegory: truth stops being alētheia, unconcealment — a thing coming out of hiding — and becomes correctness, the match between a statement and its object. He dates the whole subsequent history of Western metaphysics from that shift.
The most influential modern reading, and a critical one. It also names something this app cares about: the difference between a thing revealing itself and a proposition being right — which is, in Kabbalistic terms, the difference between gilui and a correct diagram.
