Co-founder of the Theosophical Society (1875), author of Isis Unveiled and The Secret Doctrine, and the other great nineteenth-century synthesiser — working the same decades as the Order and drawing on much of the same Christian-Kabbalist material, but pulling it toward India rather than Egypt.
