The honest inventory of what was added rather than borrowed: the cross and its Christian formulae, the Rosicrucian rose and the Vault of Christian Rosenkreutz, the Egyptian godforms and regalia, and the Masonic form of the grade structure itself.

None of these is a scandal on its own — traditions borrow, and that is what this whole annex is about. It becomes a problem at exactly the point where a composite is presented as a single ancient thing.
