The Dutch scholar who personally arranged the purchase of the Jung Codex in 1952, recognised the Gospel of Thomas for what it was, and argued for decades that Gnosticism's roots lie in heterodox JUDAISM rather than in Greek philosophy or Persian dualism.

The strongest voice for the Jewish→Gnostic direction of the wire, and a working demonstration that the manuscript history and the interpretive history are the same story.
