144 — Marcion is expelled from Rome

The Roman congregation returns Marcion's very large donation and puts him outside. He goes on to build a parallel church with its own canon that lasts for centuries in the east.

The first great sorting, and the reason the church had to decide what its own scriptures WERE. Orthodoxy is in part a reaction to this expulsion.
