THE ATLAS OF THE ALIEN SPARK
Protest exegesis · reading against the narrator
protest exegesis
nature
The technique, not the doctrine. Take a verse everybody knows and change ONE assumption — that the narrator is trustworthy — and see what the passage then says. The plural of "let us make man"; the threat that turns out not to happen; the serpent who tells the truth; the boast that gives the boaster away.
This is the most transferable thing in the entire corpus, and it works on any text with a narrator and an interest. It is also the exact inverse of PaRDeS, which goes deeper WITHOUT discarding the surface.

whyFiled at Binah. Both traditions hold that the surface of a text is not the whole of it. They differ on loyalty: PaRDeS reads WITH the text, the Sethians read AGAINST it — and the shared premise is more surprising than the difference.
