Three live positions. Gnostic → Jewish: Scholem's reading of the Hekhalot ascents as Jewish Gnosticism. Jewish → Gnostic: Quispel and others reading the Sethian texts as heterodox Jewish exegesis — you do not write the Secret Book of John without a life inside the Torah. Neither: both drawing on a shared late-antique stock, with no direct channel.

This is the only door in the whole kindred-ways annex where the DIRECTION of kinship is unsettled, and holding all three positions loosely is more honest than picking the tidy one.
