THE ATLAS OF THE MOVEMENT THAT MOVED THE ADDRESS

ברסלב · Breslov — the court with no living rebbe

Breslov
nature
Nachman appointed no successor, and Breslov has had none since 1810. Its Hasidim are called, by others, the toite Hasidim — the dead Hasidim. They travel to Uman in the Ukraine for Rosh Hashanah instead.

⭐⭐⭐ The most searching criticism of the tzaddik doctrine anywhere in Hasidism, and it is made from inside by the movement's own founder. If the rebbe is a channel, a court with no rebbe should not work. Two centuries on it is one of the fastest-growing branches there is, and its answer is that the books and the grave are the channel. ⚠ Whether that is a refutation of the doctrine or its most extreme application is a genuinely open question.
