THE ATLAS OF THE MOVEMENT THAT MOVED THE ADDRESS

לית אתר פנוי מיניה · No place is empty of Him

no place devoid
nature
A line from Tikkunei Zohar 57 that becomes the single most quoted sentence in Hasidism: there is no place empty of Him. The Besht's circle read it with no qualifier at all — not the study house, not the synagogue, not the permitted: no place.

⭐⭐ The proof text for the whole move, and the place where the quarrel became a matter of citation rather than temperament. Both sides accept the Zohar. The argument is over whether no place means what it says. ⚠ The mitnagdic reading is not that the sentence is false but that it describes God's sustaining presence rather than His revealed presence — and that the difference between those is precisely what holiness means.
