סיפורי מעשיות · The Thirteen Tales

the tales
nature
Thirteen long stories Nachman told in the last four years of his life — a lost princess, a king who swaps his heart with a wise man's, seven beggars each missing something who turn out to possess its opposite in the highest degree — printed in Yiddish and Hebrew on facing pages, with no interpretation supplied.

⭐⭐⭐ The tales are the teaching, not an illustration of it. Nachman said explicitly that he turned to stories because the generation could no longer receive the teaching directly, and he refused to gloss them. ⚠⚠ Which makes every explanation of them, including this app's ⚚ the lost princess room, a reading that the author declined to authorise. That is a fact worth carrying on the face of the room and not in a footnote.
