THE ATLAS OF THE MOVEMENT THAT MOVED THE ADDRESS
ליקוטי אמרים · The Tanya
the Tanya
nature
The Alter Rebbe's Likutei Amarim, universally known by its first word — Tanya, "it has been taught". Five parts, of which almost everybody reads only the first: Part I Sefer shel Beinonim, then Shaar haYichud vehaEmunah, the Iggeret haTeshuvah, the Iggeret haKodesh, and the Kuntres Acharon.
The only systematic doctrinal book the movement produced, and it is addressed downward. Its subtitle is the Book of the Intermediates — it is written for the person who is not a tzaddik and will never be one, and it tells them, in chapters with an argument running through them, exactly what to aim at and why the aim is reachable.
⚠ This app has repeatedly described it as though Part I were the whole book. It is one fifth of it, and the fourth part is a collection of letters that is largely about charity.
It has been taught: swear that you will be righteous, and do not be wicked.
