The Discourse on the Eighth and Ninth

A Hermetic initiation dialogue recovered at Nag Hammadi in 1945 (NHC VI,6): a teacher brings a pupil up through the spheres to the eighth and ninth levels, where speech gives out and the two of them sing in silence.

The physical evidence of the shared water. Hermetic texts came out of the same jar as the Gnostic library — so ⁂ this door and ✧ Wing I are not neighbours by our arrangement but by a fourth-century librarian's. And an ascent through the spheres that ends in wordless praise is the hekhalot shape, arrived at independently.
