THE ATLAS OF THE EMERALD TABLET

Hermetic texts come out of the Nag Hammadi jar

Nag Hammadi, 1945
nature
An Egyptian farmer digging for fertiliser opens a sealed jar of thirteen codices. Alongside the Gnostic gospels are three Hermetic pieces, including the Discourse on the Eighth and Ninth.

Physical proof that these libraries were one library. Whoever buried that jar in the fourth century did not think of ⁂ and ✧ as separate shelves — and this annex's arrangement of doors is, at that point, a modern convenience with an ancient counter-example.
