THE ATLAS OF THE EMERALD TABLET
Philo of Alexandria
Philo
nature
A wealthy Alexandrian Jew who read the Torah in Greek and through Greek philosophy — and who gave the Logos, the divine Word, the office of an intermediary between an unknowable God and a made world.
The proof that the water was shared. A Jew in the same city, a century or two before the Hermetica are written, already fusing Jewish revelation with Greek metaphysics. Nobody has to be borrowing from anybody for the resemblances in this room to have an explanation.
