THE ATLAS OF THE INMOST SELF
Madhva
Madhva
nature
The third great Vedāntin, and the uncompromising one: Dvaita, dualism. God and soul are eternally distinct, the world is real, difference is real, and the whole language of identity is a misreading. He wrote his commentaries as flat contradictions of Śaṅkara.
The pack refuses to let "Hinduism" mean one answer. Three of its greatest philosophers read the same scriptures and concluded identity, qualified unity and irreducible difference — and all three are orthodox. Anyone tempted to summarise this tradition in a sentence should be made to name all three first.
