THE ATLAS OF THE INMOST SELF
Pūrṇānanda
Pūrṇānanda
nature
The Bengali author of the Ṣaṭ-cakra-nirūpaṇa, "the description of the six wheels" — the sixth chapter of a larger work, and the text from which nearly every modern account of the chakras ultimately descends. Most scholarship dates it 1577; some argues 1526. The door reports the disagreement rather than choosing.
The actual source, and the whole point of naming it. The six-wheel scheme is not Vedic, not Upaniṣadic, and not from antiquity — it is one late-medieval Bengali synthesis among many competing ones, and other Tantric texts count four wheels, or five, or nine, or twelve.
