The movement founded in 1875 that presented itself as recovering an ancient universal wisdom behind all religions — and which, in the process, assembled a great many correspondences between traditions that had never been in contact.

The vehicle of the splice, and it recurs across this whole annex. Leadbeater's rainbow is Theosophical. So is much of what welded the chakras onto the Tree. It is the same engine as the Renaissance prisca theologia in ⁂ and the Golden Dawn's syncretism in ✥: a lovely idea — one truth behind all of them — doing real damage to the record.
