CARL JUNG AND THE KABBALAH
Martin Buber's Objection
Buber's objection
nature
The philosopher of I and Thou accused Jung of Gnosticism rather than genuine mysticism — of collapsing a transcendent God who can be met into an inner divine spark that never leaves the psyche, most sharply in Buber's Eclipse of God (1952), written partly against Jung's Answer to Job.
⭐⭐⭐ THE OBJECTION, FIRST AND AT FULL STRENGTH — THE SAME RULE THE REST OF THIS APP KEEPS. Buber's charge is precise and is not the antisemitism controversy: he argued that turning God into an archetype, however sophisticated the psychology, empties religious life of the one thing it is for — a relationship with something genuinely other than the self. If Buber is right, every parallel this wing draws between Jung and the Kabbalah is a parallel between Jung and a Kabbalah that has had its God quietly removed. ⚠ Drob answers that Lurianic Kabbalah itself locates divinity throughout creation in a way closer to Jung than to classical theism — which is a real reply, not a refutation, and the wing hosts the argument rather than settling it.

whyGevurah is the limit drawn precisely — Buber's objection is a boundary stated with full philosophical force, not a dismissal.
