CARL JUNG AND THE KABBALAH
Sanford Drob
Drob
nature
A philosopher and clinical psychologist whose Kabbalistic Metaphors (2000) and Kabbalistic Visions: C. G. Jung and Jewish Mysticism (2010) are the fullest scholarly treatment of the parallels this wing surveys — reading Lurianic Kabbalah as a body of thought with genuine philosophical and psychological content, not only a devotional literature.
The wing's primary source, named rather than absorbed silently. Drob argues the parallels are real and worth taking seriously as ideas, while being explicit that Jung himself arrived at them late, partially, and — by Drob's own account — under some pressure to keep Jewish sources at arm's length during the 1930s. His scholarship is the reason this pack can make the Shadow/qlippot and archetype/sefirot comparisons at all, rather than inventing them.
