CARL JUNG AND THE KABBALAH

Individuation

individuation
nature
Jung's name for the lifelong process of integrating the unconscious — the Shadow, the anima or animus, the archetypes met along the way — into a single, more whole personality he called the Self. Not a cure and not an achievement with an end date; a direction.

⭐⭐ DROB'S CENTRAL EQUATION, AND THE ONE HE PUSHES HARDEST. Individuation, on his reading, is Jung's version of tikkun ha-olam — the Lurianic project of gathering the sparks scattered at the shevirah and restoring them to their place. Both are effortful, both are unfinished by design, and both hold that the human person is not a bystander to the repair but its necessary instrument. ⚠ Drob argues this is exactly why Jung — once he finally read the Lurianic material closely, late in life — found it a better fit for his own psychology than either the Gnosticism or the alchemy he had spent decades on.

whyMalkhut is the completed, concrete, individual thing — the Self as Jung describes it is individuation arriving somewhere, not staying an idea.
