THE ATLAS OF THE ONE AND THE MANY

⚠ The withdrawal — what has no Greek parent

nature
For Plotinus the One overflows necessarily and effortlessly, the way the sun shines: creation is automatic, and unwilled. Luria says the Infinite must first contract — withdraw, leaving a chalal, an empty space in which something that is not God could exist at all. The source is still undiminished. It has made room.

This one refuses, and the refusal is the point: pull the dial and watch it fight. The Greek source pours; the Jewish source first makes room — which turns emanation from a physics into an act of love, and is the whole moral difference between the two systems. Three more break with it: will (a world that is chosen can be addressed), the shattering (nothing in Plotinus breaks), and teshuvah (a deed, not a metaphysical necessity).

Tehiru is a walk-in model of the Kabbalistic Tree of Life and its kindred ways — built to be explored, not read. This page is a still frame of one node; the app is where it moves.
