THE ATLAS OF THE ONE AND THE MANY

al-Kindī
nature
"The philosopher of the Arabs," and the head of the Baghdad circle whose translators produced the paraphrase of Plotinus that went out into the world under Aristotle's name. He set out to reconcile Greek philosophy with revealed religion, and the tools he built for that job were used afterwards by Jews and Christians doing the same work.
The pipe has to run through somebody. It runs through this circle — which means the Tree's Greek inheritance came to Europe in Arabic, and that is a fact worth standing still for.
