Matter, and where evil comes from

For Plotinus evil is not a thing. It is the far end of the procession — the point where light has thinned to almost nothing, and privation is all that is left. Nobody made it; it is the shape of distance.

A real parting, and a load-bearing one. The Kabbalah cannot leave evil as mere thinning: the vessels shatter, sparks fall into shells, and the wrong in the world is an event with a history — which is what makes it something a person could be given the job of repairing.
