THE ATLAS OF THE REALITY TUNNEL

Jorge Luis Borges

Borges
nature
Argentine writer of very short fictions that behave like philosophical instruments. Blind from middle age, librarian by profession, and the author of the single most quoted image in this entire corpus — an empire whose cartographers built a map the size of the empire itself.

He dramatises, in three paragraphs, what Korzybski argued in eight hundred pages: a map perfect enough to be the territory is useless, and abandoning it is not a failure of cartography but the point of it.
a Map of the Empire whose size was that of the Empire

sephirahmalkhut
whyMalkhut is the kingdom, the world as it actually stands — the territory that outlives every map drawn of it and rots them in its deserts.
