THE ATLAS OF THE REALITY TUNNEL

Benjamin Lee Whorf

Whorf
nature
Fire-insurance inspector and self-taught linguist who studied under Sapir and argued that the grammar of a language shapes the habitual thought of its speakers. His Hopi work has been heavily criticised since; the weaker form of his thesis has quietly survived.

The independent scientific version of Korzybski's claim, arrived at in the same decade. Any honest map of this territory has to show that the strong version of his hypothesis lost, and the mild version won.

whyBinah is the mother of form: the categories you receive before you notice receiving them. Whorf's question was whether those categories arrive in the grammar.
