The cut-up

Cut a page into pieces, rearrange, read what results. Burroughs and Gysin claimed it exposes what a text is really saying and occasionally what has not happened yet; more defensibly, it breaks the reader's automatic parsing.

A physical technique for interrupting a reality tunnel, requiring no theory to try. Bowie used it for lyrics; the method outlived the metaphysics attached to it.
