Twelve linguistic patterns and the question that opens each one. It assumes a speaker's sentence is a reduced version of a fuller internal model, and that the reduction happened in three ways.

The most defensible thing NLP produced: a checkable set of questions that reliably recovers information a sentence has dropped. It works whether or not any theory attached to it holds.
