The delayed reaction

the pause
nature
Korzybski's core drill: on noticing a strong semantic reaction, do nothing for a measured interval. Feel the reaction, name its order of abstraction, and only then respond.

It converts a signal reaction into a symbol reaction, which is the entire clinical proposal of General Semantics in one move.
