THE ATLAS OF THE SCREENS
Jack Kirby's Fourth World
the Source Wall
nature
Jack Kirby — born Jacob Kurtzberg — built a cosmology around the Source: an ultimate origin that cannot be approached, guarded by a barrier at the edge of the universe in which the petrified bodies of everyone who tried to pass it are embedded. The Source Wall.
⭐⭐⭐ THE FINEST CONVERGENCE IN THE WING, AND IT IS FILED AS A CONVERGENCE. An unknowable source; a limit that is the condition of anything existing at all; and the wreckage of those who reached past what they could hold, made into the boundary itself. Set that beside Ein Sof, the tzimtzum and the shevirat ha-kelim and it is difficult to keep a straight face. ⚠ And there is no evidence Kirby was reading Luria, and this room does not claim he was. He was a Jewish kid from Delancey Street who made comics at enormous speed. The rhyme is real; the chain is empty; and a wing that could not say both would be useless.
