The KLF

Bill Drummond and Jimmy Cauty began as The Justified Ancients of Mu Mu — a name taken directly from Shea and Wilson's Illuminatus! — became the biggest-selling singles act in the world in 1991, deleted their entire catalogue, and in 1994 burned one million pounds in a boathouse on Jura.

The bridge to ⊞ the reality tunnel, and the wing's most complete case of a fiction being taken up and operated. They did not adapt Illuminatus!; they enacted it, in the pop charts, with real money, and then destroyed the money to see what it would do to them. Discordianism's central claim is that a joke performed seriously enough stops being one. This is the largest experimental confirmation anyone has run.
