THE ATLAS OF THE SCREENS

Serial Experiments Lain

Lain
nature
Thirteen episodes about a schoolgirl, a network called the Wired, and the dissolution of the boundary between them. Its furniture is the Schumann resonance, the collective unconscious, and a conspiracy of programmers who want the two worlds joined.

The bridge from this wing to ⊞ the reality tunnel. Lain is not borrowing a cosmology; it is asking the question the whole reality-tunnel corpus asks — whether a consensus about what is real is different in kind from what is real. And it is the first work to put that question in the specific setting everyone now lives in.
rhymes with
sephirahyesod
whyYesod, the level where things are already shaped and not yet solid — which is a fair description of the Wired.
