THE ATLAS OF THE POLISHED MIRROR

Abraham Abulafia

Abulafia
nature
The prophetic Kabbalist of Saragossa: letter-permutation (tzeruf), the vocalised Names, head movements shaped by the vowel-points, and a breath discipline written down with a precision nobody in Judaism had used before. He travelled to the East, wrote in the Mediterranean world of the working orders, and in 1280 walked into Rome intending to convert the Pope — who died the night before the audience.

The probable wire. His technique is written in dhikr's century and dhikr's East: rhythmic invocation of Names, synchronised with the breath, with warnings about what happens if you do it wrong. The app draws the parallel and stops short of claiming a source — but the door notes he was born the year Ibn ʿArabī died, and that neither man's method would have puzzled the other.

Tehiru is a walk-in model of the Kabbalistic Tree of Life and its kindred ways — built to be explored, not read. This page is a still frame of one node; the app is where it moves.
