THE ATLAS OF THE POLISHED MIRROR

Fuṣūṣ al-Ḥikam · The Bezels of Wisdom

the Fuṣūṣ
nature
Twenty-seven chapters, each taking a prophet as the setting for a particular wisdom, the way a bezel holds a stone. Dense, elliptical, and argued over ever since — the single most commented-on book in Sufism.

The place the Names become a full metaphysics: each prophet a facet through which the hidden shows a particular face. Structurally this is the sephirotic idea, written in the same decades as the first sephirotic books, in Arabic, by a man from the same peninsula.
