THE ATLAS OF THE POLISHED MIRROR
Manṣūr al-Ḥallāj
al-Ḥallāj
nature
A wool-carder's son from Fars who preached in the streets of Baghdad and said, in public, anā al-Ḥaqq — "I am the Real." After years of trials he was flogged, mutilated and executed in 922. Sufis have argued about him ever since: was it the highest truth spoken by a man annihilated in God, or a man taking to himself what belongs to God alone?
The boundary node, and the tradition's own hardest case. Judaism has the same fault line — the ecstatic who says too much — and Abulafia lived it, walking into Rome in 1280 to convert the Pope and being spared only by the Pope's sudden death. [REF] only. The app names the utterance and gives it no instrument.
أنا الحق — anā al-Ḥaqq. I am the Real.
