THE ATLAS OF THE POLISHED MIRROR

Obadyah Maimonides

Obadyah
nature
Abraham's son and Maimonides' grandson, author of The Treatise of the Pool — a short, strange, beautiful guide that tells the seeker to clear his heart the way one clears a pool of silt so that the water of the divine influx may enter, and moves through stages of solitude and inward attention that any Sufi of his century would have recognised at once.

Three generations. The line is not one eccentric — it is a dynasty, and it ran for at least two centuries in Egypt after him. That is what makes this a channel rather than an anecdote.
