THE ATLAS OF THE SOCIETY THAT SPLICED
The Same Latin Book

Blavatsky's Kabbalah did not come from Hebrew or Aramaic. Gershom Scholem's assessment is that she drew heavily on Christian Knorr von Rosenroth's Kabbala Denudata (1677–1684) — the same Latin anthology that Mathers translated in 1887 and built the Golden Dawn's Kabbalah on. She also leans repeatedly on Éliphas Lévi as an authority, and on the American Isaac Myer, whose books she praised.
⚠⚠⚠ THE FINDING THIS WHOLE WING EXISTS FOR, AND IT IS NOT A GUESS. The two great nineteenth-century synthesisers — the one who turned West and the one who turned East — were reading the same book by the same Christian Hebraist, because for a European without Hebrew there was nothing else. Two enormous traditions, two continents of influence, one bottleneck. That is why Theosophy belongs on the descendants' bench and not among the cousins: it is not a tradition that converged on the Tree from a distance. It is downstream of the same fork.

whyDa'at again, and for the same reason it holds Knorr in the other wing: a station everything passes through that the diagram will not admit exists.
