THE ATLAS OF THE SOCIETY THAT SPLICED
Sufism As The Kernel
Islam
nature
Islam receives the same operation, with Sufism — and to a lesser extent Ismāʿīlī esotericism — cast as the inner truth and the sharīʿa as the outer shell. Theosophical writers drew on Rūmī, Ḥāfiẓ and the Persian poets, and the Adyar milieu put Theosophists in real contact with Indian Muslims.
The most interesting case, because Islam supplies the vocabulary that makes the move look native. ⚠ ẓāhir (outer) and bāṭin (inner) are genuine Islamic categories, argued over by Muslims for centuries — so here the core-and-husk distinction is not being imposed from outside. And the difference is still decisive: in the Sufi orders the bāṭin is reached through the sharīʿa and by nobody who abandons it — the outer is the road, not the wrapper. Theosophy keeps the vocabulary and drops that condition, which is the whole disagreement in one move. ۞ Wing D holds the Sufi material itself.

whyChesed is the boundary-dissolving open hand — the impulse to find everyone agreeing, which is this wing's virtue and its failure mode at once.
