THE ATLAS OF THE SOCIETY THAT SPLICED
The Kabbalah As The Kernel
Judaism
nature
Judaism is handled the same way and it is where this app has to look hardest, because it is our own subject. The Kabbalah is presented as the esoteric core; Genesis is read as allegory or as a veiled cosmogony; the rabbinic tradition — halakhah, Talmud, the whole legal and liturgical life — is the husk.
⚠⚠ AND THIS IS WHERE THE MOVE IS MOST CLEARLY WRONG, ON THE TRADITION'S OWN EVIDENCE. The Kabbalah is not a kernel hidden under rabbinic Judaism and embarrassed by it. The Zohar is a Torah commentary. Luria's circle were halakhic Jews. The Tanya is by a posek. R. Simlai's 613 is a Talmudic teaching, and this app's own ⌗ the list is 613 commandments. The mystical and the legal are the same tradition, argued by the same people, usually in the same books — a fact that is invisible if you have decided in advance that law is exoteric.
⚠ Blavatsky's own attitude is also not one thing: enormous regard for the Kabbalah, and passages about Jews that are contemptuous. Both are in the books, and the second is not softened here any more than the root races are.
