Author of The 12th Planet (1976) and the Earth Chronicles, in which the Anunnaki are visitors from a planet Nibiru who engineer humanity out of an earlier hominid, with Enki as the geneticist — and the entwined serpents read as the double helix.
The books sold in the millions and are, for a very large number of readers, the entire reason the Gudea vase is famous. His Sumerian and Akkadian readings are rejected by Assyriologists, and the identification postdates 1953 by definition. Listed here for the same reason the Kybalion's 1908 and Leadbeater's 1927 are listed: an idea wearing a false age cannot be thought about clearly.
And listed after the entoptic reading on purpose. The room's position is not "Sitchin is wrong so the resemblance is nothing" — the resemblance is plainly there and needs no one's permission. It is that his explanation is the least interesting one available, and that dating the comparison is exactly what buys the right to show the image at full strength.
