One of the four mahāvākyas, the great sayings — the sentence Śvetaketu's father repeats to him nine times with nine different demonstrations until it lands. Salt dissolved in water: taste it anywhere and it is there, and you cannot find the salt. That is the finest essence, and thou art that. This is the exact sentence the Kabbalah will not say. It goes remarkably far — the Zohar's language of the soul's root in the divine, the Ari's sparks that are divine light, Chabad's teaching that from God's side nothing else exists at all — and then it holds one distinction, forever: the creature is not the Creator, however thin the wall gets.
