⚠ The rung that was kicked away

The ladder reaches Amos 5:4 — "Seek Me and live" — one principle, and the whole Torah on it.

And then Rav Naḥman bar Yitzḥak objects, on the same page: seek Me — and then keep the whole Torah? Then it is not one thing, it is the 613 again with a preface. The rung does not hold.

So the passage strikes it out and puts Habakkuk 2:4 at the bottom instead — "the righteous shall live by his faith" — which does not smuggle the rest back in.

⭐⭐ This is the detail the app draws in red and refuses to tidy. A tradition that only preserved the finished ladder would be handing you a result. This one preserves the step that failed and the reason it failed, inside the same passage, and expects you to be able to hold both.

⚠ Note also what it is NOT an objection to. Nobody says Amos is wrong. They say the sentence does not do the JOB the ladder needs it to do — which is a claim about the argument, not about the prophet.
