The Kabbalah Unveiled (Mathers, 1887)
correspondences
nature
The Golden Dawn's foundation text in English, and the book that put the Zohar's three "Assembly" treatises into the hands of the English-speaking occult world.
And it is a translation of a translation, which Mathers concedes in his own preface. The rendering, he writes, is "principally taken from the Latin version of Knorr von Rosenroth," collated with the Chaldee and Hebrew "especially whenever the Latin rendering seemed unreliable."
Read that hedge carefully, because it is the evidence: the Latin was the working text and the original was the fallback — consulted where the Latin looked doubtful, which presumes the Latin was the default and the doubt the exception. The app quotes the hedge rather than flattening it. Aramaic → Latin → English, with a selection and a frame applied in the middle.
