A Hekhalot treatise of prayers and praxes — Rabbi Akiva and Rabbi Ishmael trading hymns that function as passwords, with fire imagery so thick the pages nearly smoke. Scholem gave it this name; it shows most clearly that in this literature PRAYER IS TECHNOLOGY: the hymn does not describe the ascent, it performs it.
