The Runner. Gimel is a rich man running after a poor man (Dalet, just ahead of him in the alphabet) to give — the Talmud itself says so. Long-legged, restless, provisioned like a camel for deserts. He cannot see a gap without wanting to carry something across it.
Gimel pleaded: with me begins Gadol, greatness. But greatness needs someone to bestow it on, and the world was not yet there to receive. He was thanked, and now he crosses the great abyss on the Tree — the only path that runs the whole desert from Crown to Heart.
