The Lataif · the subtleties

nature
The Sufi subtle body — lataif, "the subtleties": centers of perception awakened in order by directed dhikr. And their geometry teaches something no summary does: where the Tree stacks its stations up a vertical pillar and the yogis run theirs up the spine, the Naqshbandi lataif cluster around the heart — qalb at the left breast, ruh at the right, sirr and khafi above them, akhfa at the sternum's center, only the nafs banished up to the brow. Not a ladder to climb: a household gathered around a hearth. The Sufi map draws God-knowledge as intimacy at the center of the chest; the Kabbalah draws it as ascent. Each body carries the doctrine of its tradition — which is exactly why this door models them side by side.
